About my PhD research
Subject: Tuning and optimizing the structure and performance of battery electrode slurries by processing.
Research description:
My work will focus on understanding the relationship between various processing conditions that can be applied before and during the drying of the electrode coatings, the resulting solution structure and the performance of the electrodes/films produced. This work mainly involves working with rheometry in combination with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and confocal microscopy, SEM/TEM, rheo-conductimetry, and at the end test the electrodes by fabricating prototype batteries. The final goal is to understand these processing conditions in terms of their impact on microstructure and conductivity of the electrodes and thereby establishing an optimized protocol to improve the manufacturing processof high-quality electrodes.
