Founded in 1855, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) is one of the leadingi nternational universities for technology and the natural sciences. ETHZ has today more than 20,000 students, including 4,000 PhDs, and about 500 Professors. The Department of Materials (D-MATL), contributing to thisc onsortium, is an interdisciplinary research department with synergy between physics, chemistry, and engineering – composed of 13 research groups. The laboratory of Soft Materials has about 20 collaborators. The lab focuses on 3 core activities, interfacial rheology and its applications, bulk gelled systems and biofilms and soft matter processing.
