HHU was founded in 1965, presently comprises five faculties since 1993. More than 36,000 full-time students are pursuing studies at HHU. There is a total staff of approximately 3,600 persons at HHU (academic and non-academic). The Experimental Soft Matter Group lead by Prof. Löwen focuses on in the study of colloidal dispersions under shear, the arrangement and dynamics of colloids in optical light fields, the crystallization of hard spheres, and migration through porous matrices.
